Profiles in courage: Free Gaza movement, Splitting-the-Sky

Truth Jihad Radio Sat. 6/5/10, 5-7 pm Central, American Freedom Radio (to be archived here.) Call-in number: 512-879-3805.

First hour: Free Gaza organizers discuss the recent Israeli mass murder of humanitarian aid workers in international waters, and the prospects for an end to the genocidal blockade of Gaza.
First-half-hour guest Adam Shapiro is on the Board of Directors of the Free Gaza Movement. He is a documentary filmmaker, human rights activist and Palestinian rights activist. He lived in the occupied Palestinian territory from 1999-2002 and helped found the International Solidarity Movement (ISM). His films include the award-winning documentary film, About Baghdad (Spring 2004), darfur diaries: message from home (Fall 2005), and becoming nadya (short film, 2007). His latest film is a documentary series on Palestinian refugees all over the world called Chronicles of a Refugee, which was broadcast on Al-Jazeera Documentary Channel in May 2009. Adam previously served as Country Director in Afghanistan for the internationally renowned human rights organization Global Rights. He is co-author of the book, Darfur Diaries: Stories of Survival (Nation Books).
Second-half-hour guest Darlene Wallach, is a Free Gaza Movement organizer who, like Adam, has taken part in flotilla attempts to break the Gaza blockade. I interviewed Darlene in 2008 when the Free Gaza movement was just a plan and a dream. Now it's putting the final nail in the coffin of the Gaza blockade, and maybe Zionism itself. History in the making!

Second hour: Civil Resistance icon Splitting-the-Sky, who faces a sentencing hearing on Monday for the "crime" of peacefully attempting to conduct a citizen's arrest of credibly-accused war criminal George W. Bush. Former U.S. Attorney General Ramsey Clark will be traveling to Calgary for the event, and may address the court. Globalization Studies professor and STS supporter Anthony Hall will also join us.
